Rolling stock storage...

Update - No modelling as such, but have just received some rolling stock boxes and I thought worth sharing.

Whilst browsing last month I came across this thread and realised I needed something. Originally, I had always thought that I would 'trap' the rolling stock in formations between foam inserts in the cassettes, but having done this for KIAB, it was not a great success, as DG couplings and snow ploughs seemed to have not survived transit in my carefully stowed hand luggage.

Following up the thread, I sent emails (as per the websites instructions) approx. 3 weeks ago, to both the companies mentioned requesting information on their products and delivery to Spain...am still awaiting their

responses :rolleyes:unsure.gif

By chance on Ebay, I came across this company and impressed by the system and environmental use of cardboard (putting the foam aside wink.gif )I ordered two and they arrived only a few days later.

Am really pleased with the service, the price (which includes P+P) and the flexibility. The sets I ordered arrived with the foam inserts precut and all I have done is removed the small/large infills to suit my requirements.

I have no connection to the company etc etc - just a happy customer, so I thought I would share the find.

A few pics attached...

Now that the rolling stock has a proper home...I can now get on with some modelling biggrin.gif

Pete, interesting! I've been sooping around for something similar myself. I picked up one of the loco cradles (your first find) at Ali pali - but haven't fount it too useful - a bit of an overkill to be honest... but these boxes do look useful. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks - There's a nice description on their website of how the company was formed arising from a sons need to store all his war gaming figures...and it sort of developed from there.

One thing I forget to mention - You will see on some of my pictures that some of the wagons are not a longitudinal snug fit in the pockets...I think this is easily adapted by use of a scalpel when removing the inserts or adding back some of the 'negative' foam removed to suit your rolling stock.

Hi Pete,

Brilliant find. Out of interest, what trays did you purchase with the case?

I've had a look at the site but can't find a tray with 28 compartments. The trays you have look perfect for 2mm stuff.

Cheers

Thanks for the pointer - they look good and are reasonably priced. If only paypal weren't so easy to use, I might have managed to resist...

Hi Martin - Thanks,

I just rechecked my order and I have the:

KR Multicase - Card - N Gauge EU

Item Number KRM-N-Gauge , N-Gauge:

I guess the beauty of the system is that it allows people to swap trays, but I just opted for the standard N gauge card box on the railways page and it seems to be just right.

HTH,

Hi Michael - Agreed...I was originally looking at other types with aluminum cases but realised that was a bit OTT for my requirements - know what you mean about Paypal...my credit card is still smoking from recent 'railway purchases' ;) Pete

Hi Pete,

How robust has the cardboard case proven to be?

I'm debating cardboard, transport bag (appears to include cardboard case) or aluminium :)

Hi Black Sheep,

Apologies as have only just seen this - so far so good and that includes keeping them outside in a garage the last few months.

The only one disaster I had was not making sure the carry loop was poked inside the card slot so when I picked up the box the lid opened and the whole lot of trays fell across the floor...but that's just down to me being a numpty :D
