RMweb Premium Kris Posted July 4, 2010 RMweb Premium Share Posted July 4, 2010 its amazing how an exhibition shows up all the little faults. I though I had cornered the market in those yesterday
mitziblue
Hadn't noticed them running around the floor but the gremlins have to be jumping between our layouts. Mark
RMweb Premium Flying Pig Posted July 4, 2010 RMweb Premium Share Posted July 4, 2010 I hope the Gremlins have found somewhere else to play today. Whilst they may have annoyed some of the operators they completely failed to spoil the exhibition. I had a great day and would recommend a visit to anyone still dithering. Here are a few pictures (sadly not the best quality) to help persuade. Missy's Highclere, showing a superb scale model of a White Willow (Salix alba), the very effective backscene and some incidental railway stuff. Copenhagen Fields A scenic detail from the jewel-like Framsden by David Eveleigh Martin Allen's Haverhill South The perennial Wansbeck Road, now extended to a through station Mini-MSW by Alan Whitehouse, a beautifully executed circular model of the eastern end of the Woodhead line in its latter days. David Bigcheeseplant
I went today and must admit a very good show although a bit hot in the hall. David
Southernboy
I went yesterday and can only say how impressed I was with every single layout, the craftsmanship and level of detail was admirable and inspiring. Thanks to everyone involved for organising/helping/exhibiting in the event, I found it a top-notch experience all round
RMweb Gold Donw Posted July 4, 2010 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 4, 2010 It was a great show my thanks to all.It was nice to see some old friends and hopefully made some new ones. Came away with a few bits and pieces and itching to have a go. On the train home we passed a chicken farm with hundreds of free range chickens millimg around now having seen the chickens on Wansbeck that would be a real challenge. Seriously though I was struck with how the view from the train was like looking at a 2mm model. Donw

Engineer_London
My compliments to organisers and exhibitors for an excellent show. I visited yesterday, and want to give my particular thanks to the layout owners for Highclere and Wansbeck Road who tolerated me patiently while I enquired about [or looked closely at] working ground signals and Electra couplings respectively. Both have solved problems for me and inspired me to carry on developing. MERG provided renewed inspiration on working switches and crossings and block control, and the very best display [in my view] was Hall Quay, for the superb overall effect, working trams and the careful blend of artistic impression and attention to fine detail. RMweb Gold pirouets Posted July 5, 2010 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 5, 2010 Thanks for posting the pictures. Unfortunatly I could not re-arrange things at the weekend to get their but these do give both a good flavour of what was their and how high the bar can be raised with 2mm modelling. Tim V
Some idea of the extent of Fence Houses, just half the layout here.
RMweb Gold bcnPete Posted July 6, 2010 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 6, 2010 Well done to Mike Taylor for organising a great show and to all the others involved for making this a great event including the GJLC. Speaking of which, congratulations to David Eveleigh for winning the GJLC with the excellent Framsden layout. I am not much of a photographer but below are the images I have from the show. Unfortunately, my memory card was full too soon Starting with some of the GJLC entries: Aidensfield Avonwick Brafferton Grosvenor Terrace Littlemore Line No.4 Guildford Colliery Marks Quay Tiviot Dale And the following layouts, some are older classics...and some are to become the new classics... Copenhagen Fields Fence Houses Highclere Highbury Haverhill South Witney Euston Wansbeck Road All in all...a terrific show and an inspirational standard of modelling. Long Line
I would just like to add my congratulations to a well deserved win for David Eveleigh for his layout Framsden. To get so much intricate detail and operational interest into such a small space, whilst keeping the open nature of the countryside is to be commended and i for one am pleased that this layout won. No doubt the remaining GJLC projects will be as good if not better, when finished. However the overall winner has to be- 2mm modelling. long may it continue.
