hollywoodfoundry
Interesting that the seller does not think it important to mention the wheelbase or wheel size?
RMweb Gold Dagworth Posted September 27, 2010 RMweb Gold Share Posted September 27, 2010 The drawings would seem to show an 8mm wheelbase. Andi
invercloy
If you think that's mini then you must not have seen the Kato portram.... Here's an example of what you can build on it... One guy on NGRM has used it to build a Ffestiniog gravity train! More details on the portram on NGRM here: http://ngrm-online.com/forum/index.php?topic=2094.0 Yes, I know you have to register, but it's relevant and well worth a read if you are interested in this chassis. RT Models have also released a kit for a VERY VERY VERY small lister based on the Portram: http://rtmodels.co.uk/rt_models_009.htm
RMweb Premium Claude_Dreyfus Posted September 28, 2010 RMweb Premium Share Posted September 28, 2010 The only draw-back with these little motors is that they can be difficult to control at slower speeds. Despite the obvious improvements to these mechanisms over the last few years, shunting can still be an interesting experience!
invercloy
The portram actually runs reasonably well, but if you want to use it for something REALLY small then you have to remove the PCB which limits the voltage to the motor, and therefore you have to limit the speed.
