Anyone gooing to the East London Finescale Show this weekend - 6/7 November at the CE<E Campus off the A13 at Rainham?
Its being done by thye East Ham club.
I am taking my layout Trewithick. Looks like they have an excellent line up of 14 layouts covering 3mm,4mm, S and 7mm and a broad range of trade
Not sure of the full address but if you put postcode RM13 8EU into google maps or sat nav you should arrive no problem

I'll be there on Sunday manning the Scalefour Society stand ;-)
Any RMWebbers are welcome to drop by and say hello. I'll be dragging some items out of the toy-box to take along for folk to have a look at and see what this 18.83 lark is all about.

This is from the website:-
The club was formed in 1960 by a small group of modellers, and was originally known as the East Ham and District Model Railway Society. After moving to Barking in 1970 the name was changed to the Barking and District Model Railway Society.
In May 2008 they moved their clubroom back to the club's original roots - East Ham. Following the move they also changed their name to East Ham and District Model Railway Club, to reflect the return to East Ham.

EDIT:- I travelled from Southfields on the other end of the District line to Daganham Heathway and then got the vintage bus. Well worth the time, effort and cash.

Fantastic Layouts and good traders.
I was surprised that there were not more persons there for such a good quality show.
The venue was excellent with good road and public transport access.
(I heard somebody moaning that their Sat Nav took them to Tescos instead of CEME. What you have to remember is that sometimes several premises have the same postcode. Use a map and it will work a lot better. Gets the brain working too!).

One of the problems the show has is that the population of its local catchment area is predominantly not interested in model railways - be it because of ethnic cultural differences or the somewhat large amount of 'chavs' who wouldn't normally have any interest whatsoever. For it to be more successful it's going to take more visitors coming in from other parts of London or from outside the capital. Is it worth it to travel that much farther? Based on last year's exhibition I'd say yes, and it seems to be true of this year's too.

Definitely worth it - I travelled from Orpington (I came by public transport), and 2 friends from my local club were also there. I hope it will be on again next year

It was an excellent venue with easy access off the A13, good car park, most of the hall was carpeted, which was very comfortable under foot and all the layouts were of a very good quality.
Why were there so few people there? The plus points as a visitor, were that you could get close to the layouts and talk to the layout operators, as most of the time you were the only person viewing the layout! There was no queuing for refreshments, toilets etc or to be served by the very good selecting of traders.
I just hope the exhibition covered its costs and will be back in the same venue next year.
