mikeh Posted January 21, 2012 Share Posted January 21, 2012 Hi Allan Abbey Junction Box was closed 16-02-92 and burnt by vandals 09-05-92 Bedlam Gates Box closed 13-11-88 Three Spires to Gosford Green closed September 1981 (sorry don't have an exact date - anybody help?) allan7027 Posted January 23, 2012 Author Share Posted January 23, 2012 Thanks to both thesignalegineer and mikeh for their invalable help.It is all commimg back to me now as to the reason I was out taking photos on this route. The date was the 30th May 1982 and they were running passenger trains between Nuneaton and Coventry to ferry the hoards of people wishing to see the Popes visit to Coventry Have managed to dig out another four images taken on the day and will download in the next few days allan7027 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I was working at Coventry Airport for that visit. When announced we thought great - loads of extra flights. Then we heard they were having the mass actually on the airfield and the only movement was the Papal Chopper - a BCAL Helicopters S-61N. Great stuff IIRC quite a few units came to TYS for the Cross City scheme in 1979 from Liverpool amongst other places.
