Model of the Month Bachmann Ivatt 2-6-2T

This months model takes us back to steam traction and another one of my favourite locos The Ivatt 2-6-2T By Bachmann.

I originally bought this model with the intention of converting it to a BR Standard class 2 2-6-2Tank, However I chickened out once Bachmann announced their intention of doing the same thing!

I did however fit the motion support brackets that Bachmann in their wisdom omitted from the model.

The loco has been Heavily weathered as they were in real Life by 1962!

Although I never recall seeing one of these on Cambrian Metals the model does not look out of place either on Pen Y Bont or Morfa Bach.

Another model of the month in August (If I remember to update this blog!)

Cheers!

Frank, A nice weathering job on your Ivatt. We had 41222 at Bletchley for working the Wolverton to Newport Pagnell Branch.

It looks very good purched on the embankment. I can remember 41304 running light through Meole Brace towards Shrewsbury c1964, maybe 1965 on the Welshpool line as we called it back then. That's as Cambrian as I can get and running light suggests it had only gone as far as Hook-a-Gate depot? My model, 41313, ran very slowly and sweetly until a front driver parted with its axle.
