Station Road - part four

Job's Modelling

I have finished the roof. I have used a roof texture from Scalescenes printed on 100 gsm Rice paper from Hahnemühle.
You can still see on the picture some white lines. I have already coloured them in with a dark grey pastel. Weathering is done using a dark slate pigment from Vallejo.

Northall has 'real living' persons. Here is the story behind the diorama:

"Margaret Gates is looking through the window of the pet shop. She wanted to buy some Spratt biscuits for her dog, but th

e lovely rabbits took her attention.

Margaret lives in Caroline Street not far from the shops on Station Road."

I have added a picture from her with her dog Ponto talking to her neighbour Mr. Page.

Although the buildings are now finished I still must finish the diorama. I want to put a van in the street, that could be used by the owner of the pet shop. Most cars I buy are to glossy to use them straight from the box.
Comments and suggestions are welcome.
Kind regards,
Job

Hi Job - was just about to sign off when I saw your new blog entry. Very atmospheric and detailed modelling and I love the storyline..

Those grooves are printed? How on earth do you get that 3D effect?

The reason that I've eschewed card is because it's too 2D.

Thanks for your comment.

For the 3D effect I use high quality textured photo papers, for instance canvas for the brick walls.

The pavement grooves are made using a fine embossing pen.

I know it is more expensive and takes more time to model. But it is worth the effort.

Wow, this has really come out well Job. Even though I have been following the build I thought the first picture was real when I began scrolling down. The colours look just like those East End photos. The yellow light adds a very nice afternoon effect too.

I hope Margaret will be allowed to have the rabbits - and that Ponto will stay away from them!

Thanks Mikkel.

The diorama will by for Yvette, my granddaughter. They have at home some dogs and rabbits. They go along quite well under supervision. She kindly provided me with some pictures of het rabbits.

So I think that Margaret is also able to learn Ponto that he has to accept the rabbits.

What a nice idea to make it for your granddaughter. I'm sure she will like it!
