Hattons 1400/48/5800 chassis removal

Has anyone tried to drop the chassis out of one of the above locos.
If you remove the couplings, there is a screw at each end, which you would assume when removed, the chassis would come away from the body - but I could not remove the chassis.
Does anyone know how to remove it?
