SPROSTON -"Little Things".

"Evening all", as George Dixon used to say,-this update is concerned mostly with "little things" ( with apologies to Dave Berry...)
There have been some minor changes around the layout, a small utilitarian 1925 built low relief factory belonging to 'MKA', who manufacture nuts, bolts and screws for the trade, has recently appeared on the corner of Station road, replacing an overgrown area of wasteground containing advertisement hoardings - said hoardings - promoting the forthcoming appearances at the Odeon of The Beatles and Billy J. Kramer and the Dakotas, amongst others - along with a BRB publicity poster for Yorkshire, have been repositioned facing the Church at the bottom of the hill near the Creamery on the site of the former WW2 searchlight battery.

At long last an attempt has been made to 'lead' the road off scenically through the backscene next to All Saints Church, using an old colour perspective postcard view of a thatched cottage and a tree to disguise the edge - it's not perfect but an improvement over what was there before...(nothing.)

I have been trying to produce some bramble bushes using offcuts of old scouring pads teased out and painted dark green, and it seems to have worked, they have come in useful along the base of the back wall of the goods yard, in the back corner of the field alongside the church, in front of the pillbox that sits atop the hill, and around the abandoned searchlight revetment.

I couldn't resist buying the new model from Hornby of the BR. (ex SR.) Maunsell 10t. cattle wagon, and so one has now appeared alongside the two Bachmann ex WR. models.
Finally a new BR. WR Shelvoke & Drewry 'Freightlifter' can now be seen in the busy goods yard. (Oxford Diecast) preparing to unload two large crates from a 'British Road Services' Seddon - Atkinson 8 wheeler'.

I managed to remove the operating cab from the 'Freightlifter' and have installed one of my HO scale 'little people' from China, once again not perfect, but better I feel than leaving the cab empty..
