Fen End Pit - Slow but steady progress

Fen End Pit

Progress on the rebuild has been slow over the last week with not too much time for modelling. However I have still managed to put some string grass over the new sections of the layout. I've still got a lot to do to blend things together but it is coming together.

I decided to follow the suggestions and try to make a farm track as discussed in a previous post. I'm happy with the shape of the land form now and got a layer of sand on it. I've started to add the grass which will cover much of this track.

I've added some standard gauge sleepers to protect the track. The Ruston looks quite at home.

Friday night saw progress on the new point work. I'd got all the rails filed up super-glued to the 3D printed base and so the evening was spent adding the cosmetic rail fastenings out of plasticard rod. The last tricky bit done this afternoon was the pivots for the switch blades and the tie-bar.

The first two baseboards have now been rewired using MERG CBUS equipment and servos replacing the old lemaco motors so I can run some trains again.
