Ledvogterhytte - (That's a Danish platelayer's hut to you)
Something a little different today!
I took some drawings from Middlepeak of this parish and modeled up a Danish platelayer's hut in 1:87. The complete hut is only 40mm x 32mm x 32mm. This was basically a trial just to see how the Wanhao D7 would cope with it. The result isn't bad, probably up with your typical Bachman/Hornby 'ready-to-plonk' building. The hut came out pretty square and the detail is quite nice. The 3.5mm brick work just about comes out but is stretching the resolution of the printer to the limit, I'm not sure if the relief is quite good enough to pick out the individual bricks if you wanted to paint them.
I printed this at 50 micron layer height so I could have gone down to 35 micron for extra resolution in the vertical, I don't think that this would help with the brickwork though, I think the ~ .1mm mortar line is just too small for the printer to render. This picture also shows the 'stepping' on the roof from the .05mm layers.
Anyway, it was a fun little print.
As a bit of a tease I'll just let you know that I'm waiting for a special delivery from Darley Dale on Monday. I was in serious need of a 'pick-me-up' so decided to purchase a 'little project to keep me going....'
