Posted by Midland Mole , 13 August 2017 - - - - - - · 317 views

Blog 2.0, rage quitting, Yorkshire ramblings, Stroudley and more dogs After what feels like forever, good morning everyone. As many of you know I decided to take a break from RMweb for a little while just to calm down for a bit (with the exception of having to log on for work a couple of times). While I have always managed to ignore most of the negativity and complaining some people like to peddle on here, about 3 week...

Tractor distraction - Diseasels, a dog and going Dutch

Posted by Midland Mole , 24 May 2017 - * * * * - · 242 views

Tractor distraction - Diseasels, a dog and going Dutch Good afternoon all,
I fear that I must start this blog entry with a revelation, my dark little secret. As the title suggests, I like....and this is tough to say, I like....diesels. In fact, I really like diesels. Not as much as steam, but I do. And in particular, diesels in the BR liveries of the 80s/early 90s.
Now that is off my chest, I...

Guilsborough update - Practicalities of life weighing heavy. "Good" evening everyone, This blog entry is probably the hardest I have had to do, but is something that has to happen and there is no way round it.....I cannot continue my plans for Guilsborough. Those of you who follow my blogs know about the situation with Guilsborough and the circumstance surrounding how it came into my possession. And I must say...

XXL Blog - Too many things, no time for a title. Good Morning all,
It has been a little while since my last blog, and I have some things I wanted to talk about. The blog post is fairly picture heavy. 1) The case of the missing bus.
Some of you may remember the pictures of Guilsborough that were taken when it first came into the shop (before I started working there). This close up from one of the p...

Trains for Guilsborough - Part 2 + 2016 review

Posted by Midland Mole , 01 January 2017 - - - - - - · 237 views

Trains for Guilsborough - Part 2 + 2016 review Happy New Year all, The last year has been somewhat of a roller-coaster year for me, and I don't think I have ever had a year where my life has changed so much. There have been a fair few negatives, losing my Grandmother after caring for her for the best part of eleven years, losing my dog three days before Christmas, being diagnosed with Asperg...

Trains for Guilsborough - Part 1

Posted by Midland Mole , 30 December 2016 - * * * * * · 164 views

Trains for Guilsborough - Part 1 Good morning all, Those of you who have been following the blog entries on Guilsborough will have seen the intricate timetable written by the creator of the layout. My intention is to recreate the locomotives and trains he ran on it originally. With the locos that is easy as he made notes of the class and number of each one, but the rolling stock is...

Guilsborough - No.2: The Story of the Line

Posted by Midland Mole , 29 December 2016 - * * * * * · 251 views

Guilsborough - No.2: The Story of the Line Good afternoon all, This is the story and history of the branch line as written by the original creator of the layout. He has created a VERY convincing background as to how this line might have really existed as a completion of the line to Loddington that did exist. This is copied word-for-word from the document he typed and the maps he drew:...

Guilsborough - No.1: The Background PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: http://www.rmweb.co....weighing-heavy/  Good morning all,
As some of you are aware, I have become the new owner of an already built layout. Sadly I don't know anything about who built it, apart from the fact it was obtained from an elderly...

Guilsborough - No.7: Control Good afternoon all.
I now have the rather nice control panel in my possession (where I am going to store it I have NO idea!). :D It is really well built, with a very nice layout plan with the switches and controls you need for the track points and signals. I only learned yesterday that no only are the large signals all working, but all the ground sig...

Guilsborough - No.6: The Northampton End - part 2 Northampton End - part 2 Make sure to look at the last picture for another example of the incredible detail the builder went to in making this masterpiece. I did not even notice it until probably the 5th time I looked at the field. :)  PLEASE BE AWARE: I am sorry about the terrible pictures. It is a combination of poor lighting, a basic ca...

Guilsborough - No.5: The Kettering End - part 1 Good afternoon all.
We picked up the last scenic sections today. First up we have the Kettering End. The double tracks leading off the board under the bridge go to the Kettering fiddle yard and are the single track branch line towards Kettering, and the line that leads to the ironstone quarry (off-scene). There is also the start of the goods yard, pe...

Guilsborough - No.4: Layout Support

Posted by Midland Mole , 18 November 2016 - - - - - - · 280 views

Guilsborough - No.4: Layout Support Good evening all. A slight change of plans meant I did not bring another scenic section home today, but I did bring the legs and some of the fiddle yard elements. As I said In the first blog entry I will not be having the physical fiddle yard boards due to size issues, but this collection of cassettes was just far too good to leave. :) ...

A sojourn to Kent....and a case of the dreaded man-flu! (also, many MANY planes) Hello all. I have returnethed from my 5 day holiday (well, 3 days actually there doing things) in the very nice county of Kent. It is also my first time in the county, and only my second time in the south east.
Despite catching the dreaded man-flu on Sunday, I greatly enjoyed the places we visited and have come away with some very nice memories.........

Matters of civic and ecclesiastical nature

Posted by Midland Mole , 25 September 2016 - * * * * - · 231 views

Matters of civic and ecclesiastical nature Good afternoon all. While at the Weston-super-Mare Model Railway Show a couple of weekends ago, I managed to pick up a new Bachmann "City of London" from a shop that had shut down for a very reasonable price. I then found 3 old Hornby clerestory coaches in the shop I work at. After some ebay trawling I got my hands on 3 more so I now have a decent si...
