GORDON'S ALIVE?

No, not Flash (Aaahhahhh) but Kitson Long Boiler Pannier Tank of 1885 and named after Gordon of Khartoum.

Built from the Judith Edge kit. It's probably far too large a loco for the needs of the CVC&CC but I like the look of these locos and it's my trainset (Well, it will be if I ever get around to building it).

Nice unique quirky looking thing. I've never seen a loco with 4 buffers on the front before, looks well odd! Guessing it is for dual gauge.

Didn't take you long to build that..should really start mine...

The lower set of buffers are for use with contractor's type and chaldron wagons.

Brilliant Dave.

Is it a doddle to build? We normally get a work in progress shot!

That's glorious Dave! The finish, in particular, is superb; I especially like the painted name.

Hi Paul,

I actually found it to be quite a difficult build and I made a few mistakes, which were corrected with a lot of bodging, so it wasn't exactly my finest hour. It may have helped if I had read the instructions properly though. My only gripe about Judith Edge kits is the lack of diagrams in the instructions. I know there's the line drawing but some kind of expoloded diagram would be a great help.

You just keep on building these gems don't you!!!!!

You've got to build the layout 'cos the locomotive stud is exquisite!!!

Well it's a cracking job anyway Dave - I have to admit I found the JE Janus a little tricky, I do much better wrapping my head around diagrams than prose. The line drawing can only go so far and some photos of the real thing helped no end.

Having said that, I wouldn't hesitate to build another JE loco should a suitable prototype for my layout be among future releases!

Looks good to me, it isn't the easiest of our kits to build. With reference to comments above about the lack of exploded diagrams, don't forget that we provide accurate drawings of the whole loco - unlike almost every other manufacturer. It is possible to lay the parts on the drawing to see where and how they should fit
