Time?

Summers here, and for me Im calling time on modelling for now, the financial side of things isnt improving, and although people are looking, a lack of comments has made me think is it all worth it? maybe its just me ..

The 101 is the only solitary thing ive worked on recently, the DMS' underframe is more or less 90% done, with just some small details to go, then theres the remotoring of it and the lights, which I havnt yet added, and probably by the time ive finnished this, 101692 will only be a display model more or less, but ill gladly bring it along to any shows etc..

I shall however continue to discuss things on here, so whilst not modelling myself (for now) ill continue to help people out, and post knowledge.

hi nick seems to be the same here alot of people look but leave very little in the way of thanks or well done, there is a few people who have a huge following and get comments all the time but im unsure if people look at the blogs or and just go to the main forum section!

anyway as tony wright says happy modelling!

Nick I enjoy reading your blog entries :) I just don't alway have time to post up encouragement and replies. Your work is excellent and I hope you continue to document it hear in the blogs - a format I prefer :)

As for summer time = less modelling time - I think that's an issue for everyone :D

Don't be disheartened. The Scharfenburg coupling on the 73 is truly impressive

What have you been doing to the 101 underframe? I have a 101 and an uncomfortable feeling I ought to do something to improve the underframe - but I can't quite see anything practical...

Hello Nick smile.gif

I do understand how you feel about postings here on the blogs but dont feel dishartened about it. The same happens for me with my blog and its so easy to loose interest because of it. The way I treat it is as a record of your modelling and achievements, think of it as a kind of diary that oneday you will be able to look back on and admire your own work. Another tip would be to post pictures as much as you can, I find people respond much better to a picture than text.

Dont give up though.

Don't be disheartened by the apparent disinterest shown by lack of comment. when RMweb3 mutated to its present form there was an amount of discussion about the "chaff" content (of "Me Too" entries) in the Threads, and the Blog format was (as I understand it) expected to reduce the "chaff".

Obviously succeded in this instance, resulting in your frustration!

I wouldn't take it as a criticism of your modelling abilities that people aren't leaving comments. Speaking form my personal usage of the forum, it tend to have a browse of the blog topics that catch my eye and only really leave a comment if I have a question or something constructive to offer, if I were to compliment on every blog I were to read, I'd spend all my time doing it, and quickly run out of ways to do so!

Maybe if there was some sort of 'like' button (a la Facebook) there'd be more appreciation demonstrated throughout the various blogs.

Don't give up, nice as it is to gain the approval of others, satisfying yourself with your efforts is the best bit about this hobby.

All the best

J
