An Electric Scot
Latest project is a Lima Class 87. Being a fan of the real Class 87, growing up with them, ive always wanted a model of one as I remember these fine machines ploughing up and dow nthe West Coast Mainline until withdrawal. I completed a Model a few years ago, but had to sell it. Thankfully now though ive been able to get a new model. Already being familiar with the models' faults I knew what I was getting myself in for, but ive list these below, some of which ive noticed have been missed off completely on other models ive seen:
Body:
Remove multiple working jumpers etc, replace with TDM cables
Replace moulded handrails with wire
make all "panels" flush, as they should all be the same height
replace inaccurate Insulators on roof with Hornby 86 mouldings
add fire tanks
Add " + " airiels
replace pantograph with correct "Bracknell Willis" type
Add new glazing and Windscreen wipers
Chassis:
Rebuild Chassis, re-using parts, and building new parts with styrene tubing, sheet, and wire
Replace buffers, add screw link couplings and working couplings as well as various pipes and ETH equipment
Motor:
Replace Lima Pancake with a more suitable motor: in this case a Bachmann Warship chasiss
Pictures ive attached show how she appears currently, ill add another entry soon
