1 - Kyle - That's all folks...

Posted by bcnPete , 14 May 2010 · 647 views

Update - Good morning - my final update as I start to pack my hand luggage for our flight today.

There are a good number of things we didn't get done and a fair few that I am not happy with, but I have now run out of time and the layout will make its UK debut tomorrow at the Burgess Hill Model Railway Club Exhibition as planned.

I am hoping their will be time this evening to do some last minute stuff, i.e. toning down some of the scenery, applying some MIG powders to the rolling stock etc. Unfortunately my TPM class 26 will not be making an appearance. Despite getting some BR Blue aeresol sent to my parents address for some pre exhibition loco painting ;) , when I ran the loco chassis the other night it must have split gears, so I will leave it for my return.

I did not manage to start the station building but rather than spray it grey I thought I would just leave it in white card as a 'work in progress'.

I attach a few pics showing the components and will report back after the exhibition with my thoughts.

The first photo shows the state of the some layout 18 days ago and the following pics demonstrate what has been achieved spending on average 3 hours a day in the evenings...

This is a wonderful piece of work Pete - and very nicely finished, a really great standard! Hmm you've got me wondering what I could achieve in the scale in such a small space!

Inspired :)
Hi Pete Posted Image

I totally agree with James, that is a fantastic bit of work you have there. Its all so brilliantly presented on thought out.

Good luck with the trip and the show, Im sure it will all go to plan.

Pete,
I agree with James and Missy... it looks truly great. I look forward to seeing it tomorrow at the show.

Fantastic result after all the hard work! Good luck.
I doesn't matter how many box file layouts I've seen before, this still stands out from the crowd. The design and methods used make it all seem so simple (even though the reality is far from it!) and is a great advert for the scale. Well done Pete!
Hi Pete,

Good luck for the show hope it all goes well for you. As the others have said your finescale work is very good to follow and the standards you have achieved are outstanding. The whole presentation of the layout is first rate and you have to look twice to see how you have got it all to fit in a box file like that! It will be good to see your building when it is complete as well. Shame I won't be at the show to see it.

Thanks,
Mark
I hope it wentwell Pete. It shows when the whole concept is properly thought out. How many other layouts get flown in! Great work.

Thank you everyone for your posts above - It's always nice to get comments, and especially so from modellers whose work I greatly admire - it really makes it all worthwhile and is appreciated.

As I continue to reflect upon the exhibition I will make a Kyle Post Mortem type post in the next day or so together with the future of Kyle in a box, however, once again thanks for all your comments and support...especially throughout my dire track building moments of this blog :D

Best wishes, Pete
