Ropley - Remodelling.

Afternoon all!

Having been re-united with the basebaord for Ropley for the next 8 days, a few jobs needed doing I've been putting off for a while. The first was addressing the yard area. Originally I used foam board as a base, mainly in the hope of reducing noise, but unfortunately it wasn't up to the task of maintaining the desired shape and had sagged in a couple of places between its supports. So, off it came:

and in it's place has been fitted a piece of ply instead, a much more solid base for the more complex pointwork leading into the yard:

The second job was to remove the yard entry point. Whilst drawing up the plan for the barry slip, it became evident I'd got this in the wrong place, so it was taken up and relaid. This also gave me the chance to rectify the alignment of this section of line, something I hadn't been that happy with since it was put down.

So, here is Ropley at the moment, looking a little further along since we last saw it!

I hope to finish the yard entry point, barry slip and the other yard point this time around, as well as get a few more points wired up and motorised, so more updates to follow!

Cheers,

Tom.

Hi Tom.

Your easitrackwork looks very neat.

How are you intending to work the tie bars?

I assume you're testing with a longbase or bogie vehicle at every opportunity?

Thanks Chris.

I have a selection of stock representative of what will be running on the layout once finished. This is continually run through the pointwork as it comes together to check clearences etc.

The tie bars are simple PCB strip. Not the most elegant solution but once the track is painted & ballasted I don't think they will be that intrusive.
