The Winter Sun peaks through as a Weekend service heads towards Alton
Hi all!
Just in from the Festival of Railway Modelling at Doncaster Racecourse. Nice show as usual, and kudos to the girls at the entrance for opening the doors slightly early to allow those lucky few of us near the front of the que in out of the sub zero temperatures!
I picked up the final point motor required for the scenic section, so the end is in sight for the electronic work now and I'll be able to run engines over the full extent of the layout. No doubt this will throw up a few areas which need tweaks, but future work is mainly going to be scenic orientated, which is by far my favorite part of the construction process.
Tasks for the next few days are to install said point motor, cut the bendy MDF purchased for the backscene and get that installed then build up the carpark area on top of the embankment. If I get chance I might also make up some of the concrete cable channel which runs alongside the line at the bottom of the embankment.
So, another update in a few days, but included are two photos showing the latest experiments with static grass and turf for the embankments. Same method as mentioned here, but with some Woodland Scenics turf added to replicate the brambles.
Cheers all,
Tom.
The Carriage & Boiler shop casts a long shadow over the departing train.
