Third time lucky tying this….

2017 in review:
This year saw a return to “modern image modelling” with the start of Wheal Imogen, as such a few old projects have been taken out of storage to finish off for the layout.

The first out of storage was the TUA slurry tank conversion, with the body work now finished and the model just needing the bogies building (for which the parts are now sourced) and the end handrails. It should be finished in Q1

An interesting kit build was a kit by Jon Hall of a twin Cargowaggon, a very straight forward build which is now waiting for couplings and paint.

Another old project was a model of 37196 which has now had the bodywork finished off and been primed awaiting spraying in large logo grey when the weather warms up.

A project that I had been thinking about for a long time was to rebuild the roof of a Hornby CDA into something closer to the prototype. This has now been completed for the first six wagons (in 1988 condition) and will need to be repeated for the next six in the new year for 1998) http://www.rmweb.co....s/#entry2906126

Another project which had been in progress for a very long time was rebuilding a Bachmann 150 with the Jim Smith Wright etched window frames and Shawplan Laserglaze. This has now been finished on one side (with the other to follow in the new year now that I have found the rest of the etches.) blogentry-54-0-27819800-1511218871.jpeg

While searching through stock boxes for suitable stock for the layout, I came across a Virgin Class 57 (which had had its cooling pipes on the underframe pinched for a 47/7). After selling the body on eBay I sourced a replacement shell in Railfreight distribution (along with underframe tanks). This was then renumbered to 47338 along with a little weathering.

The final projects have clustered around getting a HST up and running to play with on Brent, The first thought was my GWT rake, however given this is converted to P4 and running well I did not want to risk spoiling it. I did however take the opportunity while it was out of the box to find suitable powercars for renumbering (and got it finished). I then moved on to the Virgin set for which the powercars are still OO, finishing off the transfers on a TSRB conversion.

Looking forward to the new year, the focus will continue to be on stock for Wheal Imogen (as well more importantly on stock for Brent).
The key stock projects:
Ø Paint the Cargowaggon pair
Ø Fit the bogies and ends to the TUA and paint
Ø Build 4 ex Caustic Soda TTAs
Ø Commission etched walkways for the ex Bowaters tanks
Ø Fit couplings to all completed clay wagons
Ø Weather the CDAs / build the other 6
Ø Paint GWT sleeper rake into Intercity
Ø I have also started putting together a Virgin Trains XC loco hauled rake (which will eventually run on the branch along the front of Wheal Imogen). I currently have 3 Hornby 2E coaches (with a need for one more in intercity and a Bachmann 2F buffet). The 2Es all need the chassis correcting.
