58015

Back in April 2008 (according to the RMWeb archive) I started a project renumbering a Heljan Class 58 in Mainline branded triple grey as 58015. While the paint was very thin preventing my usual renumbering method, it was a very close match to that from Phoenix so the cab sides were resprayed. Unfortunately Heljan made a complete mess of the rest of the livery, painting the body side grills and cab doors the wrong colour. At the time I repainted the large side grill and the cab doors, but never got round to finishing the job.

Last night I dug the project out to try and finally get it finished, at which point I can decide if I really need two Class 58s (I don't...) and then decide if the loco will be sold off.

So after masking all of the body side grills, they were all hand painted with my usual Vallejo Black Grey paint that I use for weathered black.

Hopefully it wont take another 10 years for me to do the other side!
