37196 - nearing compleation
Work on 37196 is now rapidly approaching completion,
The etched windscreens have now been glued into position. I had planned to fit the glazing first, however in the end I decided against it as a) I couldn’t find one of the lazerglaze parts, and b) I wanted to use superglue to get a quick bond on the etch which would have clouded the glazing.
The use of the replacement etch is a bit too much extra hassle for the gain in looks, not something I plan to do again.
The etched plates also proved to be a bit of a pain, as I couldn’t get good enough coverage over the black plate to get a good finish with the red. In the end I stripped it back to bare metal and started from scratch. They were then superglued in position
Finally was the glazing, body side and cab side glazing is now fitted, however I could only find door glazing from a later 37 and Bachmann have corrected the door window vs the original 37/0 used here. So I need to go on another rummage to find more glazing parts before I can finish it off.
The buffer beam has been prepared to accept Hornby Class 50 buffers, which now need the housings painting red before gluing into position.
Once that is done, it just needs to be converted to P4…
