Some Wagon Building: Sea Urchins and Ferry Van

After the computer randomly decided to close the page, try agian.....

Continuing the approach trying to clear out the WIP boxes, a couple more wagons (and a lot of work on the bridge for Wheal Imogen which I will touch on later).

First up was the VIX ferry van, I have removed the working doors, carved off the fictional roof vent and lower brackets for the working doors, carved off the frameing around the end clips, and glued the body to the chassis. I also had to remove circa 1mm from each side of the chassis to clear the Bill Bedford sprining units.

The remaining jobs are to fill the holes left from the old body mounting clips, add the new door, axle boxes / springs and then paint.

This is the wagon that I am aiming for (on Paul Bartlett's website) https://paulbartlett.zenfolio.com/brferryvan/hF8652F#h1105f640
I like the combination of the 1980s red / grey livery retaining the Through to the Continent by British Rail logo, transfers will be by Railtec http://www.railtec-models.com/showitem.php?id=1907

Next up some Sea Urchins
I started building this rake back in 2009 with a mix of kit and scrachbuilding to produce a spoil rake of various different diagrams.
Yesterday I was finishing off an S Kits model of an ex VDA build, I needed to add a few more details and then sort out the w irons. The latter was a change to the original plan in that I couldn't fit Bill Bedford units into place (too wide), however I was able to get P4 wheels into the compensated units supplied with the kit so have used these instead. After the time spent removing material to get the w irons to fit in the VIX I wasn't doing it again!

For this wagon I am working from this photo on Martyn Read's site https://ukrailwaypics.smugmug.com/UKRailRollingstock/Z-Tops-codes/ZCA/ZCA-Sea-Urchin/i-2w7ZF7Q/A
in dutch with Mainline branding.

I also added the final few ribs to another diagram with a heavily rebuilt body, this was scratch built from plasticard and a Cambrian solebar. With ribs added from Evergreen strip, it needs W Irons adding and then will be ready to paint (probably in Mainline blue as this one (again on Martyn's site). https://ukrailwaypics.smugmug.com/UKRailRollingstock/Z-Tops-codes/ZCA/ZCA-Sea-Urchin/i-GvZ94FS
