Is Railway Modelling Art ?

When I see some of the so called Art I become more and more convinced that railway modelling is very much an art form, yet
one that we don't explore as much as we should. Good clear photographs are great to see in detail what is being presented,
but are not exploring the envelope of art presentation. In short we could all do better for artistic pictures.

Today I was taking what was intended to be one of those good clear photographs to show my newly made GWR speed restriction
sign. The camera though differently, the open garage door had so much light that it burnt the outside into a white blur as well as
upsetting the automatic exposure and focus. The impressionist effect obtained, to me anyway, makes a superb picture. Yes this
IS ART.

The blur and flare make it look like a shot through a train window.  I particularly like the drunken telegraph pole.  I agree that the overall impression is very artistic :)

A bit of Photoshopping to remove the door(?) with it's frame and the picture(?) on the far wall would also improve the artistic appearance.

Great photo. Apart from the artistic effect, the slightly blurry and "random" feel also makes it look realistic to me. Sometimes our layout photos end up looking too "posed" I think - unlike eg the car partly hidden behind the blurry sign here, which really adds to the realism, I think.

I thank you guys for the comments and it's good to know

that I'm not alone in the images that catch my attention.

Even the leaning telegraph pole and fence posts add

something.

It's just a little 6' x 3' oval with passing loop behind a back

screen. Something to play with and run in my smaller tank

locos, also where I try odd ideas ..........

I'm glad Mikkel mentioned the car - it's an important aspect of the photo.  So often, our models look so 'posed' (the infamous bus on an over-bridge).

My layout is also just a 6'x3' oval but gives me a lot of pleasure, setting up little 'vignettes' for photography.  Perhaps you might like to try the 'Dynamic Auto Painter' software (no connection, just a user) which I've shown in my blog.

Well, Phil Parker - You are Art ...... A nice little comment you received.

Does it count ? - You bet !!

MikeOxon, Please to see I'm not the only one who gets as much enjoyment

from a 6 x 3 as anything else. A big layout can soon become a nightmare as

I know from experience.
