meanach

I've never been entirely happy with the 3 % gradient I installed on the first board I built for Meanach . It was the first layout I'd built since my early teens and the hobby has progressed massively . Whilst gradients on the Kyle line resemble a roller coaster when viewed from the road , it just looked too steep. Whilst we are all confined by space (or lack of!) , the section after the bridge needed a little more space before the incline.

Despite the fact I was pleased with the scenics , I decided to pluck up the courage to rip out 8 feet of track and risers. It's currently well on the way to being rebuilt . It's given me a chance to re align the track in the rock cutting , which was a little too close as well as add more electrical bus feeds. The track work is now relayed upon a less severe 2 % ( 1 in 50 ) gradient . The incline now starts 1 1/2 feet further on .
