Great to have finally met you Kris,and to have seen Avonwick in the flesh again - its' certainly grown a bit since the Expo last year . The Manor did look rather nice, and my views on the 'blood & custard' livery have changed having seen your Toplights; OK its still not as good as a proper livery (Cream & Brown), but its a pretty good second...

 

Anyway, congratulations on putting on a great display, and my hat's off to you for running it all solo

There is nothing like an exhibition for finding the bugs in a layout. If you manage to keep something running for the public count that as a success. This blog will act as a note to yourself for the things that need attention. I would start with the fiddleyard. If the B set is parting you could permenantly couple it as you shouldn't need to sepparate it. a strengthening coach would be added to the end of the set in many cases.

It was great to meet up again. I didnt realise you were on your own otherwise I would have offered to look after it while you take a break, I know what its like being at a show alone and travelling as much as you did couldnt have helped.

The layout has come on really well, the extra scenic bits are really nice. Im sorry to hear you are having a few issues with the trackwork though and trust me I know how you must feel about it but I am sure you will get them sorted. Has famer Giles got a hangover?

As Steve has said the Manor looks very impressive and based on what I saw today I am definately getting one ASAP!

The fiddle yard is the number one job Don. With half term coming up so defiantly no work that should be easily doable. The B Set seemed to be suffering from a flexing coupling, a bit more bend should sort that out, but it will mean doing a little unsoldering first.

Given the amount of time farmer Giles spent lying down today I think that he might be in for a huge hangover.

That Manor is quite nice (a compliment from someone who believes that the Churchward era was best). The width of the driving wheels is not offensive and it could look pretty good with spoked tender wheels, some cylinders (instead of a flap of plastic) and a new pony truck. Black goes with everything I've been told.

A quick update.

 

I have spent much of this morning looking at the fiddle yard to try to and

 

A) establish the cause of the problems.

B) resolve the problems.

C) look at the next steps forward.

 

I have establish the problem on one of the points and resolved this. I have also tested this with a variety of stock, and it seems to be working. The second point that was causing problems on both routes seems more serious (well as serious as model railway problems ever are). I have got one route working reasonably well but the other route is another matter. I shall be looking further at this later and may do a full blog update to say what I'm thinking of doing.
