A couple of enjoyable afternoons were spent over the festive season building up this Dapol kit that has been in my top draw for months.

The original door hinges being totally wrong were removed with a sharp knife and replaced by bits of micro strip, Some nice whitemetal buffers from Nairnshire modelling supplies have replaced the plastic kit supplied items.

Screw link couplings and some brake rods have been fitted the vacuum pipes are part of the Dapol kit.

The ventilated meat vans were originally built for attachment to passenger stock and were painted coaching stock maroon, By the time of my period of interest most had been repainted in bauxite and used for general traffic as most meat traffic was sent in later type insulated vans or by road. Some of these vans had the vents plated over, but, I wasn't going to be that fussy!

Here's my finished model ready to roll on the layout.

Not too bad for a kit whose moulds are over 40 years old!

More soon ( I hope! )

Cheers!

All of the range make into very presentable models, I wonder how many have been sold over the years from those moulds? :)

I know this is going back a bit, but I came back to have a look at your painting of this van today, as I just finished knocking one together. I think its a pretty decent kit.
