Brent: 2016 in review / Plans for 2017

Apologies for what is a rather long post, with no photos to break things up. I want to briefly summarise the progress made in 2016, and more importantly outline the state of play of the current work in progress projects going into 2017. Ideally when I review this again this time next year, most of these projects will be complete.

On locos there has been a lot of progress, both increasing the size of the loco fleet, and ensuring those purchases are DCC fitted and have the appropriate names / numbers. On the coaching side, a lot of research has been completed and the fleet has now more than doubled in size (thanks to the Hornby Collett).

The least said about freight the better.....

Moving onto the work in progress.

Locos
Still in works are a couple of wiring issues (Kings), 3 hard wire decoder installs (45xx and Austerity), a renumber on the second (edit: and now third) King(s) and a missing chimney / lubricator cover on the 42xx.
King Richard and King George both need plates fitting, as does a Grange
There is also a big order of etched number plates to make (covering about half the fleet)
My large prairie needs new slide bars (and motion on one side), this will either be scratch built or possibly from Comet (given the plastic Hornby part looks rubbish and costs a fortune)
Spitfire needs to have the tender finished, plus a renumbering job
I need to source a star, which will be repainted in black as 4025 with no names (tenders will be swapped with the tender I have been working on for Spitfire)
Moving onto the mid term projects, Saint Dunstan is still looking very sorry for itself due to the dodgy boiler the part built kit came with. I still keep debating buying replacement castings, for the boiler barrel and starting again. Every time I see another finished loco on Tony Wright's thread i seem to get this loco out for another look.
The County hasn't progressed past the body work done in 2015, but the chassis is due to be started soon.
The Mitchell 43xx may well get a new OO chassis as well as its almost finished P4 chassis (it just depends on whether a new high spec model gets announced)

Long term, the Finney 2251 and dean goods, Mitchell Manor, and High Level chassis are all on hold. The manor is another candidate for an eventual double chassis job.

On the to be determined pile is a 64xx and 94xx both of which need a High Level chassis, and are not very useful for either layout. At some stage something needs to be done with them.

On to wagons,
Very little still in the works (open c, cattle wagon and mermaid awaiting paint), however freight remains very low on the priorities at the moment. Lots of P4 stock still needs reverting back to OO at some stage...
Not to mention making a start on the pile of kits that are yet to be started.

Finally coaches
H33, D95, LNWR compo, Clerestory brake and Monster are all awaiting paint.
D95 and wartime brown B Set, awaiting roof paint and lining
Hornby bow ends / mainline sunshine stock awaiting roofs painting grey, the Shirt button coaches will just be weathered.
H26 needs interior and chassis detailing (tanks) plus couplings, then painting
A20 needs body detailing and couplings, then painting
Centenarys are still a long way off completion, needing the restaurants building I have also decided it will be easier to overlay the composite than sort the windows. These are due to be started in January, all then need the rainstrips beefing up, tarting up the chassis and then painting

The aim is to get the majority of these finished by Easter before starting any new projects...
