Modified Hall pt7: Finished (Almost)
So with an envelope from Fox waiting for me as I got home from work yesterday, it was time to crack on and finish off the Modified Hall.
The first job was to prepare the plates, as ever its a very tedious job removing the fairing from the bottom of the plate. This is made a little more difficult by the fact that Fox's plates seem to be a little thinner than Modelmasters and hence more prone to deformation while cutting / filing. As ever I wish I could just buy the nameplate on its own for renumbering jobs and a separate fairing for when it is needed!
Once the etch was finally cleaned up, it was then superglued into position and then followed by the cabside plates.
Next up once again it was out with the red paint to give the buffer beam a final coat, before touching in the vacuum pipe in dirty black. After a little drying it was now ready to receive the buffer beam numbers. But can I remember where I have put them? No.....
So it looks like the final completion will have to wait until I can place an order for some HRMS transfers. I need some more G W R logos at any rate so its not a total waste. No doubt as per usual I will find the missing transfers just after the new ones arrive.....
Showing the fire iron tunnel does exist!
Other than that, all thats left now is to fit some lamps and a driver (ModelU although probably not a job which will be completed until some more locos are ready to be done,) and test its load hauling capabilities (a job for today)
Edit: Adding a screw coupling to the front might also be sensible.....
Edit 2: The model has now been tested, completely at home hauling 8 Bachmann and Hornby coaches even without its missing weight. Should be more than capable of everything it needs to haul. That does now start making me consider another Bachmann (Collett) Hall to do in plain green...
