A tender for a Saint pt2

The Fatadder

Not a lot more progress on any real modelling this week, motivation is rather lacking in the post holiday lull.

The other day I picked up a can of Rover Brooklands Green from Halfords, described in the RAF Kinloss list as being a good match for GWR green.

The first two items of stock have now been sprayed, 5108 and the tender for Saint Dunstan. Both have now had the green sprayed (2 coats) and the black hand painted (I think next time I will probably spray the black as well.)

The tender has also now had the Great Western transfers added, (Saint Dunstan running for a time in the 1940s with a black locomotive and a green tender with Great Western branding.

Of course I have ran out of G W R transfers so 5108 cannot be finished yet.

The paint is not that dissimilar to the shade which Bachmann use, and should look closer still once it has a coat of satin varnish.

For the record the 5100 was sprayed over the Hornby green while the Saint tender was sprayed on white primer.

That Rover Brooklands Green looks good.

I will try and get some photos outside later to get a better comparison, but I am rather pleased with it. If only Halfords did a better match for choc and cream...
