A new fiddle yard for Calshot

Well, I have been threatening to plan this for a while...

I'm currently drawing up plans for a replacement fiddle yard for Calshot.

This time it will be much shorter but wider. Oh, and i'm going to make it properly this time!

Plan:

What about narrow gauge?

Seriously though, will you put sections in the stabling point etc.....or might you go DCC????? :P

Get down, Fido.:icon_wave:

Put sections in anyway, then you have the option to go to DCC later!:icon_thumbsup2:

Is 25cm long enough for your standard gauge locos?

I think DCC will come later, although I really have no idea! :P

We shall have to see!

There will be two stabling points for locomotives as that is the space restraint. However I can always store one on one of the T/T plates.

I don't think there will be enough stock to justify a narrow gauge fiddle yard TBH, at the moment, the lean-to on the loco shed is in the way and prevents it getting past. Again, should I get more stock, then I may have to build a small NG fiddle yard.

Hmm there seems to be a flaw with this new software - there isn't the 'a new post has been made, you may wish to review your post' etc...

Anyway, John, the sections will be going in, don't you worry!

25cm is long enough for my lovely Q1 which should be the longest loco allowed on Calshot...

Yep. And I might be able to see why you're asking...

How am I going to pull Section A across without knocking a loco off.

Well, I didn't plan that very well! Perhaps I can drill a hole through Section B (i.e. fascia) with a rod connecting that to the underneath of Section A?

Oops... looks like it's not just the software that has a flaw

Thanks :D

Hopefully i'll be able to make a start tonight. I've got the drawer runners already...

I've already built a much longer one as you may know, but unfortunately, it didn't perform very well because it was more of a sector plate design - as I found out, you can't have two or more entry points onto the fiddle yard where you have a sector plate...

In case you were wondering, Section C on the diagram is to minimise handling of the stock - in fact, you shouldn't really need to touch the locomotives at all.
