Every year, the British Railway Modellers of Australia (BRMA) holds an annual Convention in one of the states or territories. In 2018 it is NSW's capital Sydney's turn to hold the Convention, which will run from Friday 28 to Sunday 30 September 2018. It will be based at the Mantra Chatswood, 10 Brown Street, Chatswood, NSW 2067, Australia. The Convention is open to all. You do not have to be a BRMA member to attend. Of course, if you enjoy yourself we hope you will join us!
On Friday afternoon 28 September there will be some short workshops and clinics.
The Convention proper is on Saturday 29 September and will include talks and presentations from BRMA members and guest speakers, including our special guest speaker Tony Wright. There is a modelling competition and a photographic competition for members, a bring-and-buy stall and some trade stands where you can buy kits, parts, and bits and pieces. On Saturday evening there is a gala dinner, which includes the prizegiving for the modelling competition and an after-dinner quiz.
On Sunday morning 30 September there is a tour of members' model railway layouts.

Hillingdon Railway Modellers - Test Track Open Day
By Solderpete,
The refreshments are pretty good too.

Lincoln district model railway exhibition
By Dagworth,
Layouts were a mix of entertaining fiction through to well researched models of real places and places that had previously had railways but modelled as though those lines had survived the Beeching cull. A good mix of steam era and more modern diesel content too. One exhibit showed the true definition of a tail chaser, the train missing it's own tail by about 2 millimetres.
I was there helping with a layout presented as a work in progress that got quite a lot on interest showing how a layout was built.
A good social and meal on the Saturday evening in a local pub added to a great all-round weekend.
The show was VERY busy both days!
My thanks to the organising club and to @Clive Mortimore for letting me be his wingman for the weekend
