Ayton Lane shed (IMG 2835)

The loco shed is a two road affair, scratchbuilt as extended, now post-war semi-derelict using 2mm and 2.5mm thick Slaters card sheet, factory windows from Scale Link and stone effect also from Slaters. Office/mess and sand furnace are also scratchbuilt using Peco window and slat vent units and Slaters 4mm brick sheet. There is a Peco inspection pit outside the shed that I have seconded as an ash pit. NER water cranes are from Mike's Models. There is a Wills platform cabin, Coopercraft platelayers hut and two re-constituted Triang trackside huts designated for fitters and cleaners. Track and points are Peco Code 75. I have some work finishing the scenery front and back, as well as fixing down the trackwork with ash ballast. There is a Wills cattle-creep under the shed throat that doubles as an underpass. Standage for ballast and sand wagons is on the level outside the office and alongside the edge of the shed area; loco coal wagons stand on the ramp where the coaling stage will be built in archetypal NER style.
