BR class 65
BR Class 65 #65001
This locomotive is the prototype for a class of 25 locomotives, the order currently on hold due to the possibly of including a modified batch for DRS.
Built in 2008 by Brush Traction, she was first trialed out with EWS as a possible replacement for the 37s, but as of January this year, is also undergoing trials with DRS.
The locomotive is powered by a Mirrlees V-16 engine rated for 4,000hp, mated to a Brush BA1006B alternator (a modified version of the BA1006A, designed to handle the extra power of the V-16).
