RMweb Premium Tim Dubya Posted July 13, 2015 RMweb Premium Share Posted July 13, 2015 All being well, and through the good offices of Iain Rice, Paul Karau and Rowena Barlow, I am hoping to have the wonderful but not as yet seen in public "Ynys Gwyntog" model on display at the show next Saturday. It is Bob's re-interpretation in 7mm scale of Cyril Burch's model that originally appeared in "Model Railway News" back in 1965. See http://www.greystarpublications.com/ngi/review%20blog.htm for Bob's account of the project last September. Simon Yay!
Maurice Hopper
All that and tea, and I absolutely promise it won't rain as much as it did last year! Simon It seems we might get in dry.... But the Met Office is suggesting rain for the late afternoon just as we are packing up!! Oh what fun!!

RMweb Gold Gilbert Posted July 15, 2015 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 15, 2015 Sorry not to be there - I'd love to see Ynys Gwyntog - I shall be many, many miles away - but the journey north does take me within 3 miles of Hattons...thinks...

RMweb Gold Gilbert Posted July 15, 2015 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 15, 2015 I understand there is also a bookshop nearby ... and very good it is too...the coffee is excellent if you're prepared to mind the shop while the MD pops out for some milk and a few other essentials ( and a bit of a catch-up with the neighbours....obviously) Chris
RMweb Gold Not Jeremy Posted July 15, 2015 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 15, 2015 You are both very kind. There will be not one but two Saturday boys on duty in the shop this Saturday, although I doubt they'll have any time for beverage production(!) I shall myself mostly be drinking tea and talking cobblers over the road.... Simon

Simon And at least I am able to attend this year having missed last year's event due to being in the middle of the English Channel (on a ship fortunately but not an exactly pleasant afternoon as we spent a fair chunk of it standing-by a diveboat which had casualties on board). I am not sure if Mrs Stationmaster will accompany me but if she does will everybody please take care not to empty their tea cup over her - as happened at the recent small exhibition at Stow and which, apart from the upset, cost me having to buy her a new pair of trousers. RMweb Gold The Stationmaster Posted July 17, 2015 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 17, 2015 Well then Stationmaster, I may see you there then :-) You may indeed Chris - assuming FGW's trains work and there diversions via Bradford South Jcn, ooops wash my mouth out Bradford Jcn. I even have my RMweb badge handy with all the other things I ought not to forget such as relevant train and 'bus timetables so I might put it but several people there already know me so I might just keep it handy. So see you tomorrow all being well - after many years of coming across each other here and elsewhere.
RMweb Premium Tim Dubya Posted July 18, 2015 RMweb Premium Share Posted July 18, 2015 Excellent show, thank you Simon! A phone snap of Ynys Gwyntog (and some dodgy looking geezer) to keep you going until someone uploads some more from the show. Cheers

RMweb Gold Re6/6 Posted July 18, 2015 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 18, 2015 Great fun as ever. All the usual suspects were there with some excellent demos and layouts. Of particular note was Ynys Gwyntog which was not just a diorama but a work of art. Kind of poignant looking at it really, Thank you Simon. Top stuff! Also a big thankyou to the lovely Lesley and her catering team.
