I have got a set of Tim Horns laser cut curved base boards the full size is 87 inch or 2215mm on the outside giving me a hole of 59 1/2 inch or 1510mm

 

the parcel with the cut wood arrived Tursday

I now have 112 parts for the base boards plus 24 clamps/ gigs & the disks to locate the boards & bolts o & 3 shhets of A4 on how to put it all togetter

I do like the look of those curved boards. The concept of the laser cut design is good, but superb when applied to a curved module. Now with ends like on  the APA box I could do a lot with them. One thing I have learned from exhibiting , has been that protecting what is on layout is important, and makes storage easier. Weight is also important, and starting with a lightweight baseboard definitely helps.

 

Just noticed, Mozzer, that you might be having wagon turntables on layout ,(working or dummy?)

the legs are now done Next is the track laying but I will need to order some more points & N gauge track for the fiddle yard

 

 

there are full with legs ever 2 board joints & just a leg on the outside on the other 4

made a start laying the track & got as far as the 1st point for the station run round as I have now run out of right hand points till the new ones on order arrive

today I have got some more work done

I have laid 1/2 the track in the fiddle yard using N gauge Peco finescale track as I had it to hand

I am A Happy Chappy as all the track is down, All wired up & board joints cut & it all works still need to buy the point motors but the holes are there for fitting them

things are move quickly

the track is painted & the gaps in the sleeper are filled

catch points added to the 2 sheds & point roding fitted to the Station run round plus the paint from the mainline as the point in the sheds will be hand point

the backscene I am going to be using are by id Backscenes & is from there Premium range which is self-adhesive P208B & P208C

the info that comes with them say if you are using MDF for your backscene then it will need a coat of Gloss paint

So today I have removed the 3 sheets of MDF from the scenic boards & given them a coat of white gloss paint

 

now that's done the next job is to spread the ballast & glue it down & once I start that I will post some update photos

tonight I have started ballasting I have done 2 on the 3 scenic boards I still need to cut the tracks on the shed roads & then wire them up Plus fit a platform before I can ballast the last one

Got the shed roads cut & wires solded to them & ballasted the mainline but ran out of ballast so need some more to do the shed sidings

 

Then After tea I made a start on the rock cutting I still need to cut the inner & outer boards to match the build once the glue has dried

Today I have made a start on the standard gauge bridge that will cross the layout behind the 3 road shed

 

I have made it out of 2 Wills SS69 stone retaining arches I still need to paint it & put down the Standard Gauge track

the green will end up as grass & the black will be roads or mill yards

the paper was dry so I made a start on the plaster

 

mixed with PVA & assorted Colours plus a small amount of water

I have now fitted the printed backscene But it may be that I have a curved backscene but I do not like the id Premium backscene with it sticky back

I ended up with crinkles on one board
