My understanding from the Irish Model Railway forum is these packs are down to single figures left to purchase.  Great to see that this project has got great backing and can only be a good news for future irish wagon projects.

Order now while you can!!

MEDIA RELEASE ON BEHALF OF IRISH RAILWAY MODELS

2ND FEB 2016

IRM's First Run of Ballast Hopper Wagons Sell Out With Very Limited supply left with Retail Partner

The first run of the Irish Railway Models' CIÉ/Irish Rail ballast hopper wagons have officially sold out after a fantastic demonstration of support for the project by the Irish railway modelling community. Ordering via our website is no longer available as all 333 packs have been allocated. The CAD drawing has been signed off and sent for tooling in China and we expect the first test shot from the tooling in the coming weeks.

A grand total of 333 packs of three wagons were put on sale last October on our website and at the South Dublin Model Railway Club Exhibition, which were well received by the public. The fact the wagons have sold out before the tooling stage represents a huge and appreciated placement of trust from the community in the new venture and that the demand for high quality ready-to-run Irish outline rolling stock is stronger than ever. Irish Railway Models adopted a strategy of inclusion from the outset by previewing the CAD drawings and detailing the correction process and production schedule from an early stage, which we feel has helped in the support for the project.

We are also delighted to announce that Graham's Toymaster of Portlaoise, an establishment longserving the model railway community of the Irish Midlands, will be selling a very limited supply of the ballast wagon packs, giving Irish Railway Models a 'bricks and mortar' presence and facilitating modellers who may not shop online. They have reported strong sales with their limited supply fast running out.

Demand has remained strong for the ballast wagons so a second run of new running numbers is being considered. We would invite anyone who would like to purchase a three pack of wagons to contact us via our website to express your interest. Should we see enough interest, we will commission a second run.

Work on the cement bubble wagon continues apace with the latest CAD drawings being scrutinised for errors. We have published a 'sneak peak' on the Irish Railway Modeller Forum but we feel that there is still a number of corrections that need to be made before we can display the CAD drawings to the public. Irish Railway Models hopes to confirm liveries and running numbers for the first run of Bubbles soon.

Finally, work has begun behind the scenes on Irish Railway Models' third project. It is still in the very early stages of development and IRM hopes to bring you more news on it later in 2016. Needless to say it's going to be a busy year for the IRM team! Keep an eye on our website for updates on current and future projects.

Irish Railway Models Announce Additional Packs of CIE Ballast Wagons in 4mm Scale

Irish Railway Models (IRM), a new and innovative model railway company specialising in Irish outline 4mm scale products, has today announced that it is to release two additional packs of CIE/Whessoe ballast wagons. This additional release will compliment the previously announced three pack of ballast wagons and will be released alongside the first run later this summer.

The decision to release of two additional packs of three wagons has been taken to satisfy a large demand for the wagons, with a lengthy waiting list for additional orders already secure. IRM has been truly humbled by support for the project and acknowledges that there is a large demand for high quality, ready to run Irish outline wagons in OO gauge.

The two new packs will follow the template of the previously announced first set, with three wagons featuring three unique running numbers being available per pack. The two new packs, 'pack two' and 'pack three' will each feature different individual running numbers, offering the modeller to build up a prototypical nine wagon rake with nine different running numbers. The running numbers for previously announced pack one are '24122, 24127, 24132', pack two are '24133, 24138, 24141' and pack three are '24142, 24253 and 24254'.

Progress on the ballast wagon project has been swift, with tooling completed in China thanks to the hard efforts of David Jones of DJ models and tooling samples are due to arrive in the coming weeks for inspection.

Pack two and pack three will be a limited run of 250 packs each and will be prototypical for their final years of service with Irish Rail to compliment the previous announcement and will be priced at €119.95. IRM will also allow any purchaser of multiple packs to mix and match their order to include pack two and pack three to give them nine different wagon numbers where possible. We would ask any customer who wishes to do this to email us info@irishrailwaymodels.com with your current order number ASAP so we can facilitate you. We will also honour the original price paid.

Proceeds from the new announcement will help finance our next two projects after the cement bubble wagons. These have been decided and preliminary work is underway. The identity of 'project 3' will be announced later in 2016 after the ballast wagons have been released. The cement bubble is progressing to the tooling stage and details on ordering and liveries/running numbers will be announced in the coming weeks. We anticipate that they will be available in late 2016/early 2017.

You can place your orders now for packs two and three via the Irish Railway Models website: www.irishrailwaymodels.com

So, a parcel just arrived from China containing the first pre-production sample of our ballast wagon. There are still a few niggly bits to iron out but overall we're extremely happy with how it has turned out. Here are some photos:

So, we decided to paint and weather our pre-production ballast wagon up and put a load in to see how it looked. Wonky buffer aside, what do you think?

We're currently working with the factory in China on our snag list with this sample and should soon have factory decorated, corrected samples to share.

DJModels Ltd Ceases working relationship with Irish Railway Models Ltd

The working agreement with IRM and DJM has today ceased, with the 2 wagons development now being handled by IRM directly with a factory in China.

'Having given IRM the start and step they needed to get to this stage of having 2 Irish prototype wagons almost ready for the modelling market, IRM are now in a position to stand alone and continue with their wonderful plans for new models over the next few years. I wish them all well, and know they will produce the very best they can for the Irish Railways Modeller'

Did the IRM/Accurascale guys think they'd be making a post like this:

Quote

but with over 18k 37's (ignoring the pretty much identically configured / installed IRM A Classes, 92's, Deltics etc,

less than 10 years on?

Simply outstanding achievement.
