We have confirmed with our manufacturer that the Peckett will ship around the 11th November 2015, so subject to ships sinking, aircraft crashing or any other misadventure, we expect to be re-testing well before the end of November and will be sending out advance orders at that time.
We will dispatch orders as they were received, so those who ordered at Kettering, for example, will be getting theirs first.

Stock of all three versions will be available for purchase from our stand at the Reading GOG trade show on Saturday 5th December 2015.

Chris B and Chris K would like to thank all those who have placed advance orders and apologise for any inconvenience caused by the expected early delivery of the Peckett.

Oh dear - what's the betting that all of the EDM customers want their sound fitted locos by Christmas. When I was helping Paul at Telford he had 70 orders - by the end of that lot he'll be sick of the sight of them !!

So what's next then Chris ??

Mike,

We will start the design work for the next model shortly and will make an announcement when the CAD drawings are tool ready.

Very good news Chris. I am hoping that delivery of the Peckett will rekindle my modelling mojo, which has evaporated this year. Looking forward to opening the box!

Paul,

I am sure you will not be disappointed. Have you seen and handled one of the prototypes and will you be at Reading?

No on both counts Chris. I am basing my expectation on the excellent Ixion Fowler.

For those of us that printed off and posted a reservation form when the Peckett was first announced, where are we in the dispatch queue? How will we know when it has been posted so that somebody will be in?

Chris Basten has meticulously recorded when each order was received. We have telephone numbers and/or e-mail addresses for each order so hopefully will be able to get a message out.

JUst to add to CKs post, I have email or mobile numbers for approximately a third of the orders received, and each of these should receive an email or text to advise of delivery. For the others, we will try to contact by home phone if this has been provided, but if we only have a postal address, and you miss the postman, then Royal Mail should leave a card, saying the package can be collected at your convenience.

If you emailed or telephoned your order, you will have been given a reference number, up to just over 250, and orders will be despatched in strict rotation, starting at 1. As we will be testing and inspecting each loco again when in the UK, I expect that we will be able to ship about 20-30 a day, so it will take around 10 days to fulfill all orders.

Hope this helps.

Chris

PS Just thought......isn't CK the alter ego of a super hero......

Great news. Just wondering, are there any photos of one of the prototypes in the lined green livery? Saw the plain green and black ones at Guildex and there was talk that a sample in the lined green livery was to follow, but not seen anything.

Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

Cheers,

Andrew

Andrew,

You have not missed anything. We received a decorated sample of the lined green version. We were very happy with the lining, but the shade of green was horribly wrong. We have changed this to the shade we require and have verified the correction, but it will go straight to production so there will be no photos until the first batch of production models arrive this month

I can confirm that - Paul had the sample loco with him behind the EDM Models stand at the Swanley Narrow Gauge show on Saturday. It only came out of the box to a very select few customers with a health warning that they needed eye protection before we opened the box - it was a very bright almost fluorescent green / yellow colour - in fact a guy walked past in a HiVis jacket and it was similar to that. Most definitely not the shade that was ordered - but then that's what the prototypes are for to pick up on things like that.

I must say that the lining looked great as did the rest of the loco. :sungum:

Paul now needs to take the loco to pieces and finalise his plans for sound fitting.

Mike

  • 4 weeks later...

We appear to have been caught up in the pre-Christmas rush to get goods from China to the UK, as our models have been ‘on their way’ from the factory since the 11th November, and only now have arrived at Heathrow.

The longest delay is due to the necessity to have the models in a warehouse at the despatching airport before space on a flight can be booked. (Logical when you think about it, as if you pre-book, and fail to get the consignment to the airport on time, you still pay for the space!!!). So at this time of year, there are a lot of companies bringing products over, and we have just had to take our turn. Add to this our commitment to a full inspection in the UK before sending any loco out, and obviously time has just run out.

So whereas a couple of weeks ago, we were confident about a November delivery to our customers, we have made the decision to delay despatch and will start sending your Pecketts out on the 7th December, and continue for the following three to four days.
However, we expect to be testing Pecketts at the Reading Trade Show on the 5th December, so if you have an advance order, you can, if you wish, pick up your model there. Just tell us your reference number or when/where your order was placed and we will get your model tested there and then and pass it on to you.

If you have not pre-ordered a model, we will have some for sale at Reading, at £255.00, so you can get yours there, or order for delivery before Christmas.

We are very sorry that we will not get the locos to you in November as promised, but hope you will not be too disappointed that we are about two weeks late.

Regards,

Chris and Chris

A fortnight's delay from plan? I'm sick of all these delays from the RTR manufacturers. It's just not acceptable. I'm going to write lots of angry posts about this all across the internet, that'll show 'em. :jester:

For those of us (probably) not at Reading, do make sure you get a piccy up of the lined green one on here please Chris (although I'm sticking with black, it'd be nice to see it) :locomotive:

We are doing penance, though I will not wear sackcloth and ashes at Reading. The Pecketts are now at HQ in Penarth and I hope to have decent photos of the lined green version on Friday.

Matt - I wanted to say 'Funny' to the first part and 'Agree' with the second - but as I only get one vote you have a 'Like' !!

I hope Paul sells loads of stuff at Reading if he's expected to collect the 70 that EDM are sound fitting as the back of his car is usually packed to the roof with no space to spare.

Guest Isambarduk

Received an email from Chris today:

"Just to advise that our Pecketts have arrived and we are now well into inspection and packing.

Your model is with the Post Office and should be with you by 1300 on the 03/12/15.

We are absolutely delighted with them, and hope that you will be as well."

That's tomorrow! David

Here are some hurried shots of a production lined green Minerva Peckett taken on my Nikon P340 compact today. I will take some studio shots in slower time and remember to wipe the fingerprint off the saddle-tank. We checked, test run and packed about 80 today. The quality of finish and running is excellent. Come and see us at Reading on Saturday.

Regards,

Chris and Chris
