L&YR 2-4-2 Tank

Locomotionmodels.com are pleased and proud to announce their latest variation of the L&YR 2-4-2 Tank locomotive which is available for immediate delivery.

Radial_1s.jpg

Number 1008 was the first locomotive produced by the Lancashire & Yorkshire railway at their new state of the art works in Horwich, Bolton in 1889.

The class with many variations numbered 330 and was the most numerous of any type produced by the L&YR.

The locomotive (1008) now preserved in the NRM carries the early passenger livery but later had the full lettering of Lancashire & Yorkshire in an arc on the tank side above the brass number plate.

The class was used on all types of passenger services from branch lines to the ‘40 minute’ express trains between Liverpool and Manchester.

You will notice that the model has two whistles with the smaller of the two being connected to the communication cord via the lever near the cab roof. The cord that ran along the outside of the coaches near the roof connected with the lever and of course the whistle.

With thanks to Ken Carter, Trustee. The Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway Society

These exquisite models have been especially produced for Locomotionmodels.com by Bachmann Europe plc. and are certainly bound to be in great demand.  Only 500 have been produced, therefore we have recommended on the Locomotionmodels.com website that those wishing to own such a model should place their order immediately so as to avoid disappointment.

For those who will be visiting the Warley Model Railway Exhibition Locomotionmodels.com will be found on Stand D15 where they will have a limited number of these superb models for sale.

The cost of the L&Y Tank is £109.95 plus P&P. and can be ordered via the Internet - www.locomotionmodels.com, or call 01388 771413.  Alternatively those requiring a model can write to Locomotionmodels.com, The NRM at Shildon, Shildon, Co Durham DL4 2RE

As someone who missed out on a pre-grouping version 2-4-2T last time, I've ordered mine at once this time around. I do like this livery style - even more than the previous one that Bachmann brought out with L&Y livery.  Well done Locomotion Models!

Hi

Can anyone explain what the thing is on the front right of the cab please. Mine has arrived with it sticking upright, the photo on here has it pointing forwards. What is it and what is the correct direction for it please?

Thanks

Ian in Blackpool, a LB&SCR modeller usually but liked the look of this one!

The thing below the roof line in the corner? It's the lever for the communication cord. I believe it should be up when in use and stowed down when not. I assume it's movable.

From the information in post 1.

"You will notice that the model has two whistles with the smaller of the two being connected to the communication cord via the lever near the cab roof. The cord that ran along the outside of the coaches near the roof connected with the lever and of course the whistle."
