Just when we have got used to a Clubroom which has only minor roof leaks we have been asked to move out as the current owners of the building are busy selling it to someone else.

If anyone has any ideas of potential club rooms in the Leeds area can you let me know asap - we need to vacate by 28th February and although Leeds City Council are trying to help nothing has been forthcoming as yet. Typically we need somewhere which has about 1200sq ft of open plan floor space

We were in a similar situation 15 years ago. We too asked the council for help but they were unable to do so. Then a member spotted an empty building (a cricket pavilion), that belonged to the council. What had happened was that as it came under the parks department it was not on the list of properties to let. When we made enquiries the council seemed unaware even that the building existed! That building is now our clubroom.

Leeds City Council have found somewhere for us to store our layouts/handrails/etc for 3 months and have also provided a way of disposing of all of our "junk".

The list of potential properties from their data base had a lot in places other than Leeds City itself but the way ahead will see (potentially) weekly meetings with bi weekly presentations/discussions - watch this space for more info!

Might be a bit far but the units next to Frizinghall Models are to let:

 http://www.awsltd.co.uk/properties/industrial/336/hilliam-court-hillam-road-bradford-bd2-1qn

Staying in the clubroom and out of the neighbour's might be an issue ...

I think those sort of premises although highly desirable are far outside the budget of all but the wealthiest clubs.

We talked to AWS about somewhere else - may be more use to someone like Shipley or Bradford MRS as its too far for us but see below

Erm yep!  Its a lot of money - we have looked at other places of a similar ilk but they are way too much for a Club.  We have visited a large premises which has a number of potential rooms available, is about half a mile from a railway station, not far from a  bus stop has a large (free) car park and has a goods lift(!). But for the money we can afford it is a lot smaller than our current premises. We could have layouts up to work on and operate so its not too much of a problem.

First phase of move complete. In a little under 3 and a half hours we carried layouts etc down 6 flights of stairs and into vans then packed it all away into the Council owned store.

Next up.. visit by two members to review a potential club room... hopefully not too long before we can move in!

Its on Broad Lane so its about half a mile from Bramley station. It is on the 87 and 91 bus routes as well as any bus that goes down Stanningley Road. So not sure what the best way is.

So while I was away the Club members have got a coat of paint on the new clubroom walls and moved our layouts etc across to the new club rooms. Another coat of paint this week and then we can get a layout/ part layouts up to get some modelling done.
