Model Railways Direct Ltd

I wasn't aware of this shop until recently; I required some Ratio signals and other items and customarily for these I shopped at a large and well known establishment on the south coast of England. I've never been entirely satisfied with the service as I find their website confusing and their postal arrangements and charges costly.

They, not having what I wanted I searched and was directed to Model Railways Direct and received excellent and prompt service at a reasonable cost. I ordered on February 9 and the goods were delivered yesterday, February 24 to a small town in the Rocky Mountains, of northern Utah, USA. All very commendable.

I have no connection with the firm other than as a satisfied customer.

I've used them a couple of times my self to buy lenz decoders as they always seem to have good stock levels compared to other places, competitive pricing & always great service, speedy delivery.

Their web site is a model of a logical and easy to navigate layout, it is a shame more model shops don't adopt a similar style. I have always had excellent service from them, prices are competitive and the web site makes finding what you want very simple.

I can't say it any better than above

They're very friendly in person too! With a very nice tidy shop in Portishead.

Very odd area to find something like it, though. Down new, narrow roads between modern houses to find just it and a Post Office, I seem to remember.

Yeah it's funny isn't it - they've been there since it was built I believe. Oddly there are lots of model shops in victorian residential streets but it somewho feels strange for one to be in the middle of a brand new estate!

Used to be even odder - it was previously a specialist chocolatier next door!

Incidentally, I find collecting pre-ordered items from the shop always works out more expensive than having them posted........I don't need to explain why, do I?

Just to report, great service from Model Railways Direct, having been tempted by their sales I ordered a few things on Friday, they were shipped on Saturday, and arrived with me this morning, Tuesday, in NI, and over a BH weekend too!

All the stuff was very well packed and, as mentioned above, all straightforward to place an order through their very good, easy-to-navigate web-site - lots of email updates on the order came through to me too, so keeping customers up-dated.

cheers,

Keith

Ordered a loco 18:27 Friday, arrived before 10 today, can't say better than that noting that there was a weekend in the way :)

I received the same great service, put an order in Friday evening at 22:21 (an EMU and a couple of Brake Vans) and received them this morning (Monday).

Dare I mention the huge number of  bargains I have just been trying to resist on their email Autumn Sale list I received yesterday. Really attractive reductions on loads of stuff.

I've had to lock my wallet away and get SWMBO to hide the key. :resent:

I regularly use Model Railways Direct by calling into the shop during a work break. They are always very helpful and nearly always have everything I want. It's nice to see a shop that only sells model railway items and always carries such a wide range of stock. The largest I've seen so far.

Another very happy customer here as they had an offer I couldn't really resist yesterday thanks to the bargains thread on here.

I ordered a Hornby class 56 in colas livery with sound fitted at around 11am yesterday and it arrived today and was waiting for me as I came home from work at 5pm today now that's great service
