jazz
Hi. Finally got the bedroom redecorated yesterday, today finished the assembly of the Jubilee after priming and is now ready to go. No surprises on this kit, usual Gladiator stuff. Now I have multiple choices which to build next, will check them out tomorrow and make that decision.
jazz
Hi. The decision made, it's the old school Chowbent Castings L & Y Class 0-6-0. What a blast from the past this is. Milled heavy brass chassis as well.

N15class
Do you ever rest Ken ? G I reckon he makes them in his sleep too, no mere sleep walking for our Ken.
JeffP
Makes them in his sleep? LOL, I get so wound up with "how to", I sometimes get a rotten night's sleep with stuff going round and round in my head. Sometimes, just sometimes, I awake with an idea......
jazz
Hi. Managed to complete the tender this afternoon. The flares were a little tricky using a very small hammer over a 3\16 steel bar. Worked out quite well. Tomorrow will see the star of the business end. OOPS, just noticed I have the scratchbuild a brakehandle, not included in the kit. Edited July 28, 2018 by jazz
jazz
Chassis built today. I must say I was expecting it to run like clockwork having milled frames and rods. No such luck. quite a tight spot to sort out now.
jazz
Hi. Progress today with the body. Not bad for the fit of parts. The firebox was just a sheet of brass cut roughly to size. Thankfully there is a works drawing to scale which with out that it would be a lot of guess work and photographs. Anyway here is todays effort.
3 link
Hi Ken, Regarding the tightspot was it the rods or the frame in the end? All the best, Martyn.
jazz
Hi Martyn. I have not addressed that yet. Whichever it is I think the rods will be tackled to cure it. Just a little reaming out of one of the bush holes should cure it, it's only a little on the tight side but enough to not allow smooth running. jazz
hi. I'm happy with todays progress. Rods are sorted, just a bit of reaming out and now running freely. The smoke box/ boiler/firebox took a bit of juggling and fiddling to get it all sitting correctly. so on with the detailing tomorrow.
jazz
Hi. Not entirely to plan today, I had set out to get it primed but have run out of time today. The smoke box top lamp bracket is to be fitted then a good cleanup. All tor tomorrow.

jazz
Hi. That's the L & Y 'A class loco' all finished and ready for the painter. A break from building now as I have a backup of work to do on my own locos, adding crews and lamps etc. Plus more lighting of buildings and yards etc.

jazz
Hi. A bit of fun today catching up on a some of my backlog for myself. Today spent painting quite a number of footplate crew and fitting them to the stock. First one is myself at the controls with mate Fred ready to do some shunting. (I did drive one of these for a few years many, many years ago with Fred as my regular shunter.) Here is Joey, working the pickup down to Bodmin. A rather fetching coal dust smudge on his face. Finally, Nobby preparing for the run back. Edited August 4, 2018 by jazz
jazz
Hi. Away last week enjoying the sights and sounds of London. This week a start made on another ancient kit, this time the Oldbury Models Midland 1733 0-6-0 Tank. Thankfully they do not make them like this any longer. Quite a few adjustments and a bit of scratch building required. Instructions are extremely basic not explaining where casting etc are meant to go. It will now be put to one side until next week as I have other things to do.
jazz
Hi All. Just back from another few days in the London area, this time cruising on the Thames from Reading to Greenwich. Very relaxing and loads to see. Right, today almost finished the Johnson tank. I am awaiting the firebox washout clamps, washout plugs were incorrectly supplied. Here she is prior to completely finishing. Edited August 22, 2018 by jazz
jazz
Hi. Been working on this Javelin NLR Parker Tank. Last one I built was back in 2009. That surprised me when I looked it up. Not a bad kit to build, though I did add some detail not addressed in the kit. Powered by a Mashima 1833 and a Roxey 40:1 gear box. Centre axle sprung as usual. I am chuffed I got it finnished before my annual jaunt to Telford. I will be picking up my ordered Scorpio Q1 Steam Railmotor there. I will be getting starting that on my return. Quite excited about that challenge. Edited August 30, 2018 by jazz
