It's time to start thinking about it again!

I have e-mailed all those that have been before but if aybody is interested in coming (with or without module), please PM me with an e-mail address so I can a: add you to the list of attendees; and, b: keep you up to date with further communications.

Details:

The weekend of 24/25th September.

Armitage Village Hall. WS15 4UZ

For those that haven't been before and are interested, the normal format is to start setting up around 8am on the Saturday, go through until whatever time on Saturday evening and break down mid-afternoon on Sunday. Buffet lunch on Saturday, takeawy Saturday evening, hot meal for lunch on Sunday and tea/coffee & biscuits all day long.

There is a cost attached (venue, refreshments, etc) and it normally comes out at about £15-20 per head, give or take, depending on how many attend.

A guaranteed fun weekend with the opportunity to run trains as close to the prototype as you will ever get.  :locomotive:

Its going to have to be a nice day if it gets any bigger or someone has a spare marquee!!

I suppose we could go through the doors into the hallway.

Just need my tea trolley/ train ferry idea to become a reality!

I think going into the hallway might be do-able, there's two sets of double doors - so running the layout through one set and keeping the other open for foot traffic could work...I'm not convinced we'd get it into either of the other rooms without either some custom works or causing undue obstruction. Well, without employing the carfloat idea anyhow*! :D

If we did, I think we'd need Nick to do some very accurate measurements though!

(* Muses - Hmmm, you could do a virtual carfloat - two separated yards, and use a stockbox to transfer a complete train? )

Certainly a carfloat is easier than trying to align it with the doors and as they are fire doors it might be sticky if the caretaker popped in and the line runs through them permanently  ;)

While tempted to do it I wouldn't fit it in the car and I haven't scenic'd the junction or 45 degree corners still!

Here are my boards for this year

Of course you can! ;) .

The car was stacked to capacity last year ;) I had ideas about another small yard but I can't fit any more in!

It would mean dropping the others out and I think I'll spend the extra cash on the HOm ;)

Well hotel booked although no procession of coal trains outside now :(

I've resisted the temptation to build a tea trolley / ferry and two Port modules as that definitely won't fit in! I've also proposed another option on a yard to Martyn but that would mean dropping a couple of the existing smaller modules or Sunnydale out. So get your offers in to Martyn so he can decide what we need ;)

15ft long yard idea

Ok with just over a month to go I'm finally getting into gear to put some scenics on the bare modules and finish off Elwood Yard which is taking Sunnydales place for this meet :)

Do we have any rough plans of the layout yet Martyn? ;)

Still needing some confirmations, but we've a little time yet.

This is the current thinking - again, could still change (i'd be surprised if it was all the same!):

Operationally I want Springfield Yd at the opposite end to Fort Myers. Springfield will be acting as staging, and the extended Fort Myers also includes some staging, which i'm hoping will enable a small amount of 'overhead' traffic if they are placed opposite.

I could move the Dale/Fort Myers penninsula's further apart (and yes, i'd need to relocate the bring and buy) if I had another straight module to use with White Rock Jcn, but at present i'm not sure that's going to happen.

It might be that other additions/subtractions throw up a different way forward before the event!

I dont see an issue with Fort Myers being tight with Gunflint / Dale as Fort Myers  'non viewing' side will be that side.

However the dispatchers desks may well be a bit tight. Could the dispatchers be turned 90 degrees so that they sit looking towards Jonesville?

From what I remember from helping to move tables, the storage room has another door into the back room - it may be worth some thought of extension boards and 2x 45°/1 x 90°curves to run a track through there and you'd have another room to play in - just a thought! That should make me popular with Nick!

Maybe that room could be 'Canada' :sungum:
