wsrbloke
Hi guys, my model engineering society are building a layout of Halwill Junction in OO scale. We have the track plans and buildings layout but can't find any info regarding meat loading from abattoir to wagons. The meat was shipped in refrigerated containers on conflats but we can't work out if the containers were filled at the abattoir and then loaded onto the conflats or the containers arrived already fitted on them. I would have thought the latter but can't find any confirmation either way. If anyone can enlighten us it would be very much appreciated! RMweb Gold Oldddudders Posted April 1, 2016 RMweb Gold Share Posted April 1, 2016 All the pics I have seen seem to show the containers on the flats, and there was no sign of any crane mechanism to load them thus. I have assumed that loading simply took place through the container doors. In that respect the containers simply replaced the ubiquitous boxvan of the previous era. wsrbloke
Thanks for your input Oldddudders. I haven't seen any pics showing the flats, only ones taken of the derelict building. But I thought what you have described would be the way it was done. Ron

wsrbloke
Hi Brian, it's just that we didn't know whether or not to include a loading crane. Ron
