detheridge
Although they're not strictly speaking narrow gauge, here's more fun in 5.5mm scale. Every so often someone asks if anyone has modelled standard gauge in 5.5mm scale, and the answer is yes: Alan Catlow, and his astounding trams. I believe that the gauge is somwehere in the region of 22.5mm. Alan describes them thus: The engineering car is from the Blackpool fleet and was rebuilt in this condition in 1958 from a 1924 Blackpool Standard. At the present time it is being rebuilt and returned to its original condition in their Heritage fleet. The Nelson car dates from 1903 and was to be found until 1970 on an allotment as a shed. Sadly it is no longer there but my model is! Edited February 1, 2018 by detheridge
rue_d_etropal
The Nelson tram could be thought as narrow gauge as it was 4ft gauge. Nice to see some models of local(to me trams).
Ravenser
The Nelson tram could be thought as narrow gauge as it was 4ft gauge. Nice to see some models of local(to me trams). Wouldn't the simplest approach be 4mm scale on 16.5mm gauge track? (ducks and runs)

detheridge
just read in the modeller that Malcolm Savage passed away back in march Yes, and the tributes to him not only as an influential and inspirational modeller flowed from a great number of people, and was a joy to behold. George's acquisition of the range means that the MSM name will not be forgotten and will continue Malcolm's legacy. (I wrote the tribute in RM, by the way) Remember that all the latest happenings are on the 5.5mm modellers Facebook page, and the new website with latest developments is 55ng.co.uk David. detheridge
Hi folks, The 2018 5.5mm Association AGM will be taking place on 15th September in the library room upstairs at Kidderminster SVR Museum, DY10 1QX We've changed the venue from Willaston as it's more central to the country so hopefully more folks will be able to attend, and Kiddy BR (or NR if you wish) is literally next door, with a good rail service on Saturdays for those who prefer not to drive long distances. You can park in the NR station carpark as it's a bit cheaper... We'll have access from midday, with the AGM itself at 2pm For food and general refreshments, there's a cafe in the ground floor of the museum, and a bigger restaurant on the station concourse itself. Please feel free to bring any models you have been working on, however large or small, they will be of interest to others. If you are considering joining the 5.5mm Association and haven't yet - why not join us for the AGM and join on the day? See you there! David.
detheridge
Hi again folks, Looking for railway buildings and a cheap source of stock kits? Card may be the answer. Alphagraphix who do card kits for 4mm and 7mm can provide their wares scaled for 5.5mm for an extra £1. Here's an admittedly reduced scan of their catalogue to show what's on offer - from this you can get practically everything you need for buildings in 5.5mm scale, with lots of Irish n.g. prototypes for those modelling in 3' gauge. They don't have a website, but do have an ad every month in RM. Alphagraphix 2018 Catalogue LR.pdf
