RMweb Gold Scottish Modeller Posted April 21, 2016 RMweb Gold Share Posted April 21, 2016 Hi all, Following on (at a tangent to) my ongoing Darjeeling Himalayan Railway threads... I've done artwork for some card models of the DHR coaches already - see http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/108905-darjeeling-railway-coaches/ A question was asked on that thread about the Kalka Shimla coaches. Before I get into this I need to have photos and more details of the coaches in use and what sort of popularity card models of them would have. So - having checked the usual sources.... I see that some of the coaches are the same as used on DHR - producing those wouldn't be a problem, just a case of changing the coulours. But - the other coaches on KSR are different and appear to be different in several ways! Is there a source for drawings of these? Yes - I am aware that Worsley Works does some of the coaches already - see http://www.worsleywo...mla_Railway.htm Does anyone have photos of the finished models? More as things develop...... burgundy
Phil Some from Kalka - Shimla which may help. Our transport up was in the historic railcar, so I am afraid that I did not take much notice of all the modern image stuff. Note that on any railway station in India, you can never have too many signs. Best wishes Eric
RMweb Gold Scottish Modeller Posted April 27, 2016 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted April 27, 2016 Hi Eric, Thanks again. I love the notices that seem to be scattered like gunshot throughout the Indian rail network! The van photo is interesting as it show a drop flap at the bottom. RMweb Gold Scottish Modeller Posted April 27, 2016 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted April 27, 2016 Hi all, If you want coaches in Kalka Shimla paint schemes... You have to make sure that I am aware that there is enough interest to warrant the roughly 5 hours it takes to do each drawing. This is a reduced time as I have kept a set of templates for things like the sides, windows and doors. So I have to colour it all in and put the right doors, windows etc onto each coach artwork. The thing that takes the time is making sure the measurements are correct in the first place! If there isn't enough interest - I won't be doing them - Sorry. JohnGi
Hi, "The Engineer" for 8th July 1921 has an article, photos and detailed scale drawing for two Drewry railcars supplied in 1921. This has been digitised by Grace's Guide. http://www.gracesguide.co.uk. Registration is now required for download. Here are two low res previews. You can see some of what is available here https://gracesguide.co.uk/Drewry_Car_Co. There also seems to be a 1927 article about the preserved car which a previous poster supplied photos of. Grace's Guide now charge for downloads, I don't know how much as I had some free credits due to registering a while ago. Hope someone finds this helpful John PS This thread http://irishrailwaymodeller.com/topic/5699-dampbcounty-donegal-drewry-railcar-interior-query for some info on other 2-4-2 railcars.
