The Group meets at St Andrews church North Watford on the last Monday of each month excepting when that coincides with a bank holiday when it is brought forward by a week.

The next meeting is on Monday and will be a track night.

All are welcome.

Don't forget the NLG Open Day which will be on Saturday 11th June. I'm told that all are welcome and in fact the more the merrier.

There is a concern that groups such as these are losing participants over the years, whether by death, illness, lack of interest, moving away, etc., so if you're at a loose end and can make the commitment....

Unfortunately one of the 'booked' layouts has had to drop out. Ray Hammonds cannot make it for personal reasons so Buntingham will not be there. It has been replaced with Brockley Hill, a small layout with a simple track plan. I am sure we will all wish Ray a speedy recovery, he may be there for part of the day so if you see him please say 'hello'.

If you have any stock you would like to operate on Brockley Hill (P4 18.83mm gauge) please feel free to bring it - I am sure the operators will let you 'have a go'!

That's a real shame. I was hoping to find out whether my preferred 17.87 btb would work properly on a properly-S4 layout.

It'll have to be diesels, then.

I can drag out an 08, 50 or 52.

Well, that went well, I thought. Attendance a bit sparse, but good fun.

The big diesels ran alright on the test circuits, showing that Ray Hammond's 17.87 back-to-backs will hang on. 50 ran out of lube, so that needs seeing to before I stick it back in the attic.

To my disappointment most of the photos on the test track were way out of focus, sorry.

That's it. An enjoyable afternoon, nicely organised, but attendance was a disappointment.

The group had a very pleasurable coach trip to the Severn Valley Railway on Sunday. We had a nice ream tea upstairs in the museum upon arrival.

It was the 1940s weekend and there were lots going on with 5 engines in steam and some lovely coaches to travel in. My favourite was a GNR corridor compartment composite despite being a LMS man. I did not see the battle re-enactment but apparantly it was a bit silly with a storming of a German armoured train - pulled by an 08 in SNCF livery!

The Steam museum at Highley was worth a visit with quite a few ex LMS locos stabled in there, last time I went the MR Compound was there but it has gone now.
