Barnes could be an interesting option too, though possibly requiring more space unless you used the road bridge as a scenic break and had the bulk of the platforms 'off scene'. However this would negate some of the operating interest as not all trains stop at Barnes and it would be difficult to differentiate between them if the platforms weren't modelled!

Interesting that three stations on the same line have now cropped up - it's a pity you can't do all three and string them together! (not counting the earlier tongue-in-cheek suggestion of Clapham Junction). Though even there, the Windsor/Reading/Overground platforms on their own could make the basis of a model.

Tried to post this yesterday - but the Post hung.

There is a book, London Railway Atlas by Joe Brown, publishers Ian Allan.  It gives maps of all lines within zone 6 including all Underground Surface and Tube lines.  All municipal railways including power stations and sewage works.  It even includes the Battersea Park minature railway - and Crossrail.

The details include who built the line, trackwork (sidings etc.) and evolution.  For some places such as Stratford, there are multi maps as it is not possible to show the evolution in one diagram.  Also some complex junctions etc are shown to an enlarged scale.

Might be worth a look before committing to a particular track plan?

Don't mention the war!

I pitched this idea to Ian Allan some years ago and had done quite a lot of work on working out a viable grid for the pages, etc.

Ian Allan turned it down saying that there would not be any interest. Then, only a couple of years later, they produce a book almost identical in content and design to what I had suggested to them.
