MGR Hooper!
New 'O' gauge depot (plastic kit) which is designed to be modular and very adaptable to a number of situations and locations. Add-on packs will also be available to extend the main kit. Photo shows the first sample which has been painted; kit will be moulded in single colour plastic. Please note that the side bay 'bars' will also be duplicated on the lower panels on production examples.
No Decorum
No mention of price? Will this be an example of, “If you have to ask, you can’t afford it”?
brian daniels
It's about £70 for the basic kit that will take a class 40.It will include 2 open ends and one closed end. It is loosely based on the Eastern region depots.
No Decorum
Thank you. Not too bad then, althought he cost will multiply if you need a big shed!
brian daniels
The add on to make it longer is about £40 from memory. I am in Sweden at the moment and get to the details I have of it. If the shops discount it a bit I think it's very good value. It's very strong as it's made from quite thick plastic.
tamperman36
Looks like a good starting point and sounds like it will be cheaper than a similar sized OO RTP model from certain other manufacturers, tempting to change scale
RMweb Gold russ p Posted June 13, 2016 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 13, 2016 It looks a bit tall to me, and those plastic sides reminds me of a matchbox garage I had as a kid!
brian daniels
It is tall enough to take European electric loco's. Got to think of as many sales as possible.

Hi John As Brian says, based on Eastern Region practice..........Colchester, Marsh Road (Temple Mills), Hitchin and as you say Shirebrook. No excuses now for our 7mm D&E modelling friends, a prototypical home for your 47s, 31s, 37s, 20s, Deltic, and when it arrives the 08. Peaks, 40s and even 25s would not look too wrong under the roof of one of these. :locomotive: If only they would do it in 4mm, save me making another one. Having looked at your ER depots on here Clive, I'd say you're streets ahead in terms of detail and atmosphere - plus of course you actually made them rather than just opening a box! John. John. Thanks John Once someone has opened the box they can detail away, I wish I had a time saver like this in 4mm. It is quite sad to think most regions had a distinctive look to their depots, but all the manufacturers seem to want to produce a generic model. That is apart from the Bachmann two road shed, two of them would make a lovely model of Ebbw Junction depot. I am really surprised that no has attempted it yet. Sorry for wandering off topic. Hroth
An OO gauge version would be ideal to accompany a collection of Heljan class 15, 16 and 23 locos, probably awaiting attention..... My Heljan locos live in a run-down setting occupied by a Metcalfe 2 road steam shed and a Hornby diesel depot, obviously an attempt at "modernisation" in the early 60s!. Richard Pike
Just wondering if anyone has heard anything regarding a release date for the depot ?. I spoke with Heljan at Telford and they suggested that they where trying for a December 2016 release which has obviously come and gone.

Richard Pike
Wow, more of a kit than I imagined, I was expecting a kind of pre assembled sides and roof that just needed putting together, looks like a few hours modeling to assemble.
JeffP
Does look good, but the proof will be in the painting, I feel. Is there any internal wall detail?
