7mm RC mobile Crane

Recommended Posts

This is a mobile crane I'm just finishing off for my layout, Denton Brook.

It's a conversion of a model bought from eBay, with new pulley sheeves machined up, gearmotors fitted for hoist, slew and Luff, and an further gearmotors for the vehicle drive, with servos for steering and stabilisers.

Winches fitted, with drums (10mm X 10mm - turned from brass stock).

They butt right up to the cab side in order to get the drums central enough. It's also an extremely tight squeeze in the other dimensions. I could have cut away the internal pillars, but actually they're in the ideal place, underneath the pulley shaft - so I really wanted to make the positioning work - and it does!

That is magical.

I watched the first video and the only thing I could see to complain about (entirely in jest) was the lack of stabilizers. Then I scrolled down and there the are.

What R/C equipment are you using?

...R

It's a DelTang RX47 16 channel, although I'm only using six of them......

Andy from Micron is building me a special four-joystick transmitter - the one in use is a temporary on with knobs at the moment!
