Jenny Emily Posted January 27, 2017 Author Share Posted January 27, 2017 I had a go at backdating 'Grove street' yesterday. The aim was to remove a few glaring anomalies that would prevent its backdating. I really wanted an excuse to run the layout in around 1922 to give the pre-grouping stock a chance to be used. I also fashioned a tarpaulin to cover up the obviously 1930s designed scrapper in the scrapyard. In addition, I took the opportunity to remove the semaphore signal at the right hand end which had been the result of an over-zealous attempt to use up as much stuff off a previous layout as possible at the time of building. It didn't fit the location, and was looking increasingly stupid in my mind. At the other end the colour light signal also got taken out, for much the same reason. All in all I'm a lot happier with the layout now, and looking forward to being more easily able to use it to represent more than just the 1970s/80s period.
